Mix up the menu for healthier, happier pets
It’s no secret that the way to your pet's heart is through their tummy, (much like pet parents) but it’s also a great bonding opportunity to prepare a special meal for your pet, packed with flavour and made with love. As humans we love variety and a mix of tastes and textures for each meal – why would we treat our beloved pets any differently?!

Senses and your dog
A dog’s sense of smell is estimated to be 100,000 times more powerful than a human and it’s the best sense to entice and excite your pet when it comes to mealtimes. A dog leads with their nose, sniffing out smells, individual ingredients and scent profiles that are far more powerful than any human.

Dry and Raw
Many breeders believe in a raw diet or a balanced raw and dry diet for puppies and as creatures of habit we stick to these routine diets from day one when our pets come home. While it’s fine to add balance and variety from including some raw ingredients like raw beef mince it’s important to think of texture and the caloric density of what you’re adding to your dog’s bowl as too much raw can be detrimental to a dog’s teeth. There’s also the added consideration of hygiene and contamination with raw food, similar to how pet parents are mindful of handling raw produce in the right way.

Dry and Wet
If your dog predominately has dry food such as kibble or biscuits either once or twice a day, then by adding in a frozen roll, or a tin of wet food as a combination bowl can make mealtimes even more enjoyable for your dog. The mixture in textures, smells and moisture will not only excite the senses but add variety to your dog’s bowl. A dry base mixed in with a wet addition is the go-to bowl for pet parents who are no fuss but still want the best for their pet whilst also prioritising hydration.

Senses and your cat
By adding more variety to your pet’s bowl you’re activating their senses and making feeding time more enjoyable and satisfying. What’s good for you isn’t always good for your pet though, so before you start thinking of feeding them last’s nights leftovers or all organic produce, it’s important to understand how to build a bowl that’s not only full of nutritional benefits but is also exciting for your pet.
Dry and Fresh
A fresh food option is perfect to feed to a fussy feline who wants natural real food. Combine approximately three quarters dry food with one quarter fresh food for a nutritionally balanced meal, providing your cat with all the nutrients it requires and a mix of textures for variety.

Dry and Raw
Raw food provides a great source of protein and moisture to your cat’s diet, perfectly paired with dry food for a mix of texture for a complete and balanced meal. Raw food can be fed to your cat as is or cooked to really treat your cat and make them feel like part of the family. Don’t forget to use gloves and different cutting boards and utensils in preparation. Make sure you’re either feeding your cat raw meat that is made for cats, or raw meat that you purchase for your human family. Follow manufacturers recommendation in storage, preparation and handling.

Dry and Wet
Wet food is always a great go-to option for a cat, with a combination of flavours and variety that felines love. Just add a portion of dry food to provide variety in texture too. Cats’ whiskers are very sensitive, and they hate them touching their bowl, so be sure give them their wet and dry blend on a plate so they can really get stuck in and lick it clean!
