They are not as outgoing as their cousin (the English Springer Spaniel), but are similar in their eagerness to please. Welsh Springer Spaniels are intelligent and easy to train. Their coat needs to be brushed regularly and the hair on their ears trimmed. Welsh Springer Spaniels shed little. They get along well with other pets. They are full grown around 12 months old.

Welsh Springer Spaniels are renowned for being in good health and relatively free of health problems. However, allergies and some eye conditions can arise.
