Saving Pups from Pounds.
It is estimated that over 44,000 healthy dogs are euthanised in pounds and shelters across Australia each year. This is often due to a variety of reasons including – but not limited to – a lack of funding, insufficient holding and rehoming capacity, staffing shortages, and visibility of available dogs to the public.
To combat this issue, this February, SavourLife is partnering with The Petbarn Foundation on a mission to donate $200,000 to help save 200 dogs and puppies from regional and rural pounds across Australia.
Donations distributed during this campaign will support the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of the dogs and puppies saved from regional and rural pounds. During Rescue Month, we will also be working to promote the continued benefits of adoption, largely its ability to provide healthy dogs and puppies with a chance at a future they deserve.

How will The Petbarn Foundation Help?
The Petbarn Foundation and Savourlife will provide funding to 20 Rescue groups to support the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs and puppies saved from regional and rural pounds. This funding will cover typical costs of rescuing dogs such as transport, veterinary care, food and training.
Rescue groups involved in this initiative will then feature the dogs and puppies in their care via Adopt-A-Dog for rehoming.
How can you help?
Savourlife has committed to donating $100,000 between twenty rescue groups around the country to help save 100 pound pups! When someone buys SavourLife dog food at a Petbarn store or online during February, the Petbarn Foundation will match up to $100,000 in donations, helping rescue groups save 100 more!
We have already been a part of saving pups from pounds…
Recently, Lola and her puppies were saved from a regional pound in Queensland by Happy Tails Animal Rescue, with the help of the Petbarn Foundation and SavourLife. Not only did the team rescue the pups, they also provided them with health care, food, and behavioural testing before finding them their fur-ever home.
Another success story is Lady Indiana, who was saved from a rural pound by Australian K9 Rescue Victoria when she was heavily pregnant. Lady Indiana absolutely adores her foster family and the funds from SavourLife and the Petbarn Foundation will help care for her and her pups.
