Greencross Vets with the support of the Petbarn Foundation came together on Wednesday the 24th of November to host a RSPCA Healthy Pet Day supporting the community from the 2770 post code, held at Bidwell.
The Healthy Pet Day at Bidwell saw a fantastic outcome for vulnerable pet owners in the community, providing free microchipping, vaccinations, behavioural training, and health checks for their animals. In the 6 hours the event was running, the team helped 82 people and 140 animals, 51 cats and 89 dogs in total!
Our Greencross Vets team were on hand to assist and participate in the administering of 140 parasite preventatives, as well as vaccinations of 47 cats and 87 dogs. The hard work of Dr Erin Short and Dr Anita Trinh, as well as Nurses Kellie Tickner, Blake Tickner and Sarah Price, and our partners at ARC and the RSPCA, provided pet owners in the community peace of mind and support to keep their animals healthy heading into the Christmas Period.
The Petbarn Foundation has donated 290 bags of food to ARC, with 103 bags distributed to pet owners on the day, and another 64 bags of food being left with the Bidwell Community to distribute to vulnerable pet owners in the future.
All in all, a fantastic effort seen by all involved on the day, which will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the pets and pet parents in the local community.
