“For some people, their pet is their world. They offer unconditional love, companionship, and are there for them when they need them. Sometimes all it takes to turn your day around is the wagging tail and happy face of your dear old buddy. Unfortunately, not all pet owners have the resources to be able to care for their furry friends as they’d so dearly like to. That’s where we come in” – Kellie Tickner, Greencross Vets Practice Manager.

The Petbarn Foundation is proud to support community veterinary care events to assist vulnerable pet owners, working with Greencross Vets, the RSPCA, Vets Beyond Borders, local councils and other vet teams. These events provide an opportunity for pension and health care card holders to access free core animal health care .

In 2021 , these are just a few of the ways we helped the community:

  • Travelled to the rural regions of Tenterfield and Tamworth, providing free health checks, vaccinations and microchips. The Petbarn Foundation donated cat and dog food, as well as parasite prevention products.
  • Implemented Parvovirus vaccination programs in the Penrith community. This was a continuation of an existing program implemented six years earlier to create a Parvo-Free Penrith.
  • Microchipped cats and dogs in Tenterfield, and provided free health checks and vaccinations.
  • Provided free health checks and vaccinations in Glen Innes to protect local pets from parvovirus and the flu, as well as microchips to ensure pets could be returned safely to their owners.
  • Our big day out in Tamworth included 6 pop-up stations providing health checks, vaccinations and microchipping for local pets. The owners could not believe their luck!

Kellie Tickner says: “These days are golden opportunities to change so much in an animals life. Together we can make a difference.”
