Petbarn Foundation with the support of Greencross Vets has donated $200k to Pets in the Park since 2020.
Over 100,000 Australians are currently experiencing homelessness with over 20% of those being pet owners.
Pets in the Park provides health examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, desexing and microchipping for companion pets, as well as food provisions for people experiencing homelessness with a purpose of helping the welfare of the animal, as well as the mental welfare of the vulnerable pet owners involved.
The Petbarn Foundation has a large focus on Community Outreach as well as mental health and recognise the hardships that come from pet ownership whilst experiencing homelessness, with the aim to provide further assistance to people and pets in the community experiencing these hardships.
The Greencross vet and veterinary teams, have also donated their personal time, to attend the pop-up clinics set up by Pets in the Park, to provide their knowledge and expertise as volunteers, keeping the community spirit alive through their work.
Meet Peter and Boo: The important work of the Petbarn Foundation, Greencross Vets and Pets in the Park can be seen through the assistance to Peter, and his beloved pet Boo, who received veterinary care when he fell critically ill.
“Boo is my best mate and is with me every day. I tried as many vets as I could to help him when he got sick, but no one would see us. If it wasn’t for the support of the Petbarn Foundation and Greencross Vets, Boo would have died, but instead he is here with me and best of all he is well again” Peter.
