Once formed tartar cannot be removed by tooth brush or chewing and requires a scale and polish under veterinary supervision. Royal Canin Dental Care Maxi kibble has a specific size shape and texture to encourage crunching and to provide a tooth brushing effect with each meal. Calcium chelators included in the kibble coating 'trap' calcium, helping limit tartar formulation.
