Thank you to everyone who has helped us raise funds for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia (SEDA). Here’s an update on just some of the dogs who you have helped fund their journey to become seeing eye dogs!

Benson

Benson is such a sweet boy who is progressing in leaps and bounds in his training. His Puppy Carer says that he has mastered walking on the leash and has now moved on to walking with a bridle. This means that Benson walks alongside his Puppy Carer as opposed to in front of them, just as he will do with his Vision Australia client when he becomes a working Seeing Eye Dog. Meeting other pups is one of Benson’s favourite things to do, and he has recently enjoyed attending lots of SEDA group meetings with his Puppy Carer. Benson’s SEDA Puppy Development Officer visits him once a week to work on his skills and ensure his development is on track. It comes as no surprise that she believes Benson is well on his way to becoming a working Seeing Eye Dog.

Missy

Missy has been a very busy girl lately, going on lots adventures with her Puppy Carers as she continues her training to become a Seeing Eye Dog. On Good Friday, Missy attended a fundraiser with her Puppy Carer at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, where she had to wear a cone around her neck as she had just been desexed. Missy has recovered very quickly, and is now settling back into her usual routine, including a walk on the lead in both the morning and at night. Missy is progressing very well in her puppy training and is showing all of the necessary signs that will one day see her go on to be a working Seeing Eye Dog.

Oscar

11 month old Oscar is growing so quickly that his Puppy Carers joke that the playful pup doesn’t look like much of a puppy at all anymore! Oscar’s training is going very well, with every one that crosses his path commenting on what a smart and obedient puppy he is. He continues to accompany his Puppy Carers to work every day, and his human colleagues have loved watching him grow – they’ll be very sad to see him leave when the time comes. Oscar is now beginning to focus more on his attention while walking with the bridle, as well as beginning to learn about looking out for obstacles and hazards around him. With his obedient and alert personality, Oscar is making great strides in becoming a Seeing Eye Dog.

Toby

Toby is growing into such a big boy, and according to his Puppy Carers, his paws and his face seem to be growing by the day. Now 11 months old, Toby is progressing very well in his training and his Carers absolutely love having him as a part of their family. As he continues his development, Toby will continue to work on his walking with the lead, as he can sometimes become distracted when he sees birds or other dogs. Toby loves when his SEDA Puppy Trainer Vanessa comes to visit because he gets to show off all of the new things that he’s learnt. Toby is such a well-natured pup and with ongoing training, he is well on his way to becoming a working Seeing Eye Dog.

Willow

Willow is progressing very well in her training, with her Puppy Carers saying that she is growing into such a well-mannered and smart little girl. At the moment, Willow is at SEDA’s National Kennel and Puppy Centre as she has come into season and needs some extra care from SEDA’s Trainers and Kennel Attendants during this time. In a few weeks, Willow is going on a new adventure and going to live with a new Puppy Carer as her current carers are moving to Queensland. Willow’s Puppy Carers are extremely sad to see her leave, and they have loved every minute of having her in the family! The next step in Willow’s training is to work on her walking, especially around other dogs, as she can at times become a little intimidated.
