145-schnoodle

A cross between a Poodle and a Schnauzer, these fun-loving friendly dogs have the best of both parent breeds – a Poodle’s eagerness to please and a Schnauzer’s energy and sturdiness, but less of the Poodle’s high energy and the Schnauzer’s stubbornness. They love being the centre of attention. Snuggles on the couch as well as trips to the park make for one happy dog. They are prone to separation anxiety so don’t leave your Schnoodle alone for too long. They can be cautious of strangers and may be aloof and reserved around them. Schnoodles tend to bark somewhat and make excellent watchdogs. Smart but stubborn sums up this breed; they are quick to learn but often don’t want to repeat the command so consistent training is key… and a lot of patience!

They are wonderful pets with children and will be gentle and sweet playmates. They love making new friends and will get along well with other pets too. They are quite mischievous and spirited and suit apartment living as long as they are exercised enough. Beware, as some like to dig. Schnoodles also love to swim so a game of fetch by the beach is ideal.

Fun fact: Schnoodles enjoy going for car trips. They also

have an unusual tendency to use their front paws as hands

and will try to hold toys and blankets like humans.

This breed are generally easy to groom with regular brushing and a quarterly visit to a professional grooming keeping them looking their best. Clean their ears and eyes frequently and brush their teeth daily. Schnoodles don’t shed and are great pets for those with allergies.

Scheduled six-monthly health checks and visits to the vet are important to ensure your dog is healthy and happy throughout all life stages. It’s important that together with your vet a preventative healthcare program is determined and maintained based on the individual needs of your canine companion. Schnoodles are prone to bloat, skin disease, hip dysplasia and eye problems like cataracts.
