With bulging eyes, short muzzle and perky ears, these Terriers just make you want to curl up for a cuddle. They look similar to a French Bulldog, but the Boston Terrier is easier to train and may be more suitable to children. While being incredibly cute, they are also low-maintenance, only requiring an occasional brush. Boston Terriers shed very lightly.

They are a great first time pet and will soon be part of the family. Their passions include playing games, chasing balls and going for a walk. While their exercise requirements are not demanding, regular daily exercise keeps your pet happy and healthy. However, due to their short muzzle, they can easily overheat and care must be taken when exercising.

Fun fact: They were the first official breed

created in the United States.

Boston Terriers don’t need large amounts of space and fair well in an apartment or a house. They are incredibly friendly and loving and will get along well with other pets and all members of the family, both young and old. They are fast runners and like to take off. They also tend to be fussy eaters and are prone to gas.

While being intelligent and easy to train, Boston Terriers are also independent and may not always listen to you. They love to hide their bones in the garden or play a game of fetch. They are a cheerful companion who will love their family completely.

Scheduled six monthly health check visits with your vet are important to ensure that your dog is healthy and happy throughout all life stages. A Boston Terrier can suffer from a number of congenital and hereditary problems such as bone issues and eye problems. Together with your vet, you can determine and maintain a preventative health care program based on the individual needs of your canine companion.
