Cat Clean Up Supplies & Deterrents FAQ

When cleaning up cat urine from carpet, furniture, or other surfaces, use an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle Cat Advanced Stain & Odour Remover or Urine Off. These cleaners use targeted enzymes to break down urine proteins at the source, is safe on carpets, rugs and upholstery.

When removing cat vomit and hairball stains from carpet:

  1. Pick up any gross matter like food or hairballs, taking care not to smear the vomit further.
  2. Dab the carpet with some paper towel or an absorbent cloth to remove as much vomit as you can.
  3. Treat the area with an enzymatic cleaner. Most of these cleaners will require you leave the solution to site for 3-10 minutes before dabbing the area with a damp cloth. Follow the specific instructions on the bottle.
  4. Allow the carpet to air-dry.

All stain and odour removers sold at Petbarn are safe to use around pets.

The frequency with which you need to change odour control cat litter depends on your set up and the type of litter.

For all litter types, every day you should remove solid waste like faeces and/or clumps if it’s a clumping cat litter. Most litter types will to be replaced every 1-4 weeks depending on the type of litter.

To discourage cats from scratching furniture, apply Sticky Paws to table legs or armrests – the places where cats are most likely to scratch. The low-tack adhesive unsettles paws without residue.

Combine this physical deterrent with a scent-based cat deterrent spray, like Nature's Miracle's Scratch Deterrent Spray and Aristopet's No Scratch Spray
