Overview
The Maine Coon is massive in size, with powerful muscular bodies and substantial legs. While Maine Coons are highly people-oriented, they are not overly dependent. Most are not lap cats but Maine Coons will stay close by you, follow you from room to room and wait outside a closed door for you to emerge. Relaxed and easy-going, they generally get along well with children and dogs, as well as other cats. As for play, they like to chase objects on the ground and may play ‘fetch’ with their owners. They are big, gentle, and good-natured with dispositions that remain kittenish throughout their lives. Maine Coons rarely meow. Instead most have a soft chirp or trill in a tiny voice.
Health & development
With the Maine Coon being such a large breed they are prone to heart conditions and bone and joint issues.
They are considered kittens up until 15 months as they take longer to grown into their large stature.
